Secure email

Secure email is not actively supported in MitID Erhverv. However, it is possible to obtain a certificate which can be used for the purpose of sending secure emails.

NB - there are no instructions regarding the setup and use of secure email in MitID Erhverv and we do not provide support in this area.

Which type of certificate do you need for secure email?

It is possible to encrypt and sign with a user- or organisation certificate, issued in MitID Erhverv.

  • For a user to be able to send secure emails, a user certificate must be added to the user profile. The certificate is added in MitID Erhverv. This is possible once you have connected to MitID Erhverv.
  • If you have a shared mailbox, to which you receive sequre emails, you will need an organisation certificate. This can also be issued in MitID Erhverv.

What do you need to be aware of?

We recommend that you consider the following:
  • Who in the organisation will need to use secure email. The relevant user profiles will need a user certificate issued. The user's former MOCES certificates from NemID medarbejdersignatur isno longer valid.
  • Which shared mailboxes will need to use secure email. For each mailbox you will have to change from the current organisation certificate (VOCES) to one of the new organisation certificates issued through MitID Erhverv. The mailbox's current certificate is valid until it expires, but will be blocked  by the end of October 2023.

Test secure email in your mail client

We recommend that you test the new certificates in your mail client.

You can test the certificates in the pre production environment. Here you can create test data and issue test certificates. Once you have the test certificate, you wil need to install it in the mail client on your computer. You can now test whether or not you can send and receive encrypted emails. You can access the pre production environment through the link below (opens in a new window):
